General Information

The Walls of Dubrovnik are a set of strategically placed stone walls surrounding the City of Dubrovnik. The walls were erected at different points between the 12th and 17th centuries and were never breached. The aim of the walls was to protect the freedom and safety of the civilisation. The walls were reinforced with towers and bastions and had a moat that ran around the outside of the walls. The Walls are now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Walls of Dubrovnik have appeared on many occasions in the hit television series Game of Thrones, from the Battle of Blackwater Bay to Qarth.

Getting there

With Dubrovnik being a fairly small city, the walls are accessible from most places by foot, otherwise, a taxi ride is suggested.

Opening Times and Admission

You can walk the length of the walls and there are tours operated at a small fee which are bookable on Stradun Street, the tours are recommended if you want a detailed history.

Suitable for a stroll

Not really a better place in the city for a stroll than a stroll along the walls, easy to access and you can get some stunning views out to sea from them.
