General Information

The Motherland Monument is a monumental statue situated in Kiev, Ukraine. It is part of the Museum of The History of Ukraine in World War II. The monument is 102 metres high of which its statue stands at 62 metres, the statue was created using stainless steel and portrays a Soviet man with a sword and shield. The monument was built to celebrate the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. The statue can be seen from many areas of the city.

Getting there

The monumental statue is situated at the Museum of The History of Ukraine in World War II in the city. The 55 bus stops close to the monument.

Opening Times and Admission

The monument has an observation deck which is open daily 10am-6pm. You can see the monument for free from the surrounding areas.

the sheer size make the detailing so impressive. The viewing deck was unfortunately closed though when we went to see the statue.
