General Information
The Destroyed City is a statue in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It is dedicated to the Second World War when the city of Rotterdam was heavily damaged by the war. The statue represents a distressed figure with its arms and head raised to the sky. The sculptures arms, legs and hands are in several directions, giving the sculpture a vast dynamism. The figure leans against a tree trunk, providing a balance for the six-metre-high colossus. The figure has a hole in the torso representing the destroyed heart of the city.
Getting there
The statue is situated in the city centre of Rotterdam. It is close to the ‘Beurs’ metro stop which is served by the A, B, C, D and E lines. The 21 and 24 lines stop close by.

The statue is situated in a public space, it is free to visit at any hour of any day.
