General Information
Story Bridge is a cantilever bridge used to connect northern and southern Brisbane over the Brisbane River in Brisbane, Australia. The bridge is the longest cantilever bridge in Australia, it carries vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. It was opened in July 1940, built out of steel and spanning a length of 777 metres with a height of 74 metres.
Getting there
You can enter the bridge from the north or south of Brisbane by car, head for the M7. By bus, the closest stop to the bridge is ‘Main St at Story Bridge’ on the 227, 232 and 234 bus routes. Fortitude Valley Train Station is the closest station to the bridge, a 5-minute walk away.
Opening Times and Admission
The bridge is open 24 hours daily. There is no fee to cross the bridge and the bridge is particularly busy during the early part of the morning and early evening as people travel to and from work.
