General Information
Stone Gate is the eastern entrance to the medieval town of Gradec in the Croatian city of Zagreb. The gate has become a shrine after legend has it that during a fire in 1731, every part of the gate was destroyed except for a painting of the Virgin and Child; people have since believed that the painting possesses magical powers and ever since its reconstruction in 1760 people have come to pray, light candles and leave flowers.
Getting there
The gate is situated on the eastern side of Gradec Town and is accessible by foot from central Zagreb, otherwise, the tram or bus is the best option for travel.
Opening Times and Admission
The gate is in a public area, it is free to visit at any hour.
