St. Nedelya Church is an Eastern Orthodox church located in the city of Sofia, Bulgaria. The church has existed in the city for centuries but has suffered destruction many times. The first church on the site is said to have been created in the 10th century, a complete rebuild was undertaken in the 19th century and the church was heavily renovated and improved with a dome added in 1933. It has an impressive medieval exterior which is complemented by its interior which is decorated by a mural. The Byzantine church is a landmark in Sofia.
The church is situated right in the centre of the city. You can get to the church by taking the metro to ‘Serdika’ which is situated next to the church, the M1 and M2 lines stop there.
Opening Times and Admission
The church is open to visitors daily, 8am-6pm.
