The South Parade Pier is a pier in Portsmouth, England. The pier is one of two piers in the city. Construction of the pier started in 1878 and the pier opened in 1879. The pier has a history with fires and has been damaged and restored numerous times over the years. The pier was most recently restored in 2017 after it had been closed after being deemed unsafe for many years. It is now as it once was a popular place for socialising with a restaurant, cafe and amusement arcade.
The pier is situated in the Southsea area of Portsmouth. If travelling to the pier by car, head for the ‘Seafront Canoe Lake’ car park. Public transport to the area is limited to bus services, the 1, 3, 7, 17 and 18 services stop close to the pier.
Opening Times and Admission
The pier is free to access and is open all hours. The restaurant, cafe and arcade operate on their own separate time schedules.
