Skansen Kronan is a fort in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden. The fort was built in the second half of the 17th century. It was built in anticipation of a Danish attack on the city of Gothenburg from the south. Skansen Kronan has 4-5 metre thick walls that were built with granite, gneiss and diabase; it was also fitted with 23 guns which were never used as the fort never came under attack. In more recent times the fort was a museum but it is now used for private conferences and parties.
The fort is situated by the city centre of Gothenburg. You can get there by taking the 1 or 6 trams to ‘Goteborg Prinsgatan’. The 60 and 190 buses also travel there.
