Shedd Aquarium is an aquarium situated in the city of Chicago, USA. The aquarium opened in 1930 in a purpose-built building, it was the first indoor aquarium with a saltwater fish collection. The aquarium is home to over 30,000 animals that cover around 1,500 species. As well as fish the aquarium is home to snakes, birds and insects. Its huge themed tanks allow visitors to explore the underwater world.
Getting there
If travelling by car, there is a car park just by the aquarium. The closest train station to the aquarium is the ‘Museum Campus/11th Street’ station, which is a short walk away. The 146 bus stops close to the aquarium.
Opening Times and Admission
The aquarium is open daily, 9am-6pm. Admission to the aquarium is set at 39.95$ for adults and $29.95 for children. Local residents get a 50% discount on the general admission prices.
