Santa Maria della Spina is a church situated in the city of Pisa, Italy. The small church was built around 1230 and enlarged around 1325, it was built to a Pisan Gothic style. The church is built on the bank of the Arvo River, in 1871 the church was dismantled and rebuilt on a higher level due to dangerous infiltration of water from the river. The church is a small but popular place in the city, it gives people an alternative place of worship from Pisa Cathedral.
The church is situated on one of the banks of the River Arvo that runs through the city. The Linea 5 bus stops close to the church.
Opening Times and Admission
The church is open to visitors on six days of the week, Tuesday to Friday 10am-1.30pm and 2.30pm-6pm and on Saturdays and Sundays 10am-1.30pm and 2.30pm-7pm. There is a small admission fee at the church.
