Salzburg Zoo is a zoo situated in Salzburg, Austria. The zoo was established in 1961 and covers 35 acres of land that is the home of over 1000 animals covering over 140 species. The zoo was opened with the purpose of providing a modern habitat that showcases and protects nature and animal species. The zoo is split into different sections and different habitats that are kept as close to an animal's natural surroundings as possible. Some of the species housed in the zoo include white rhinos, lions, red pandas and brown bears.
The zoo is situated to the south of the city, it is situated near the Hellbrunn Palace. If travelling by car, there is onsite parking available to visitors. By bus, take the 25 bus from the city centre to ‘Salzburg Schloss’.
Opening Times and Admission
The zoo is open daily to visitors, 9am-4.30pm in the winter months and 9am-6pm in the summer months. Admission to the zoo is set at 11.50 euros for adults, 10.50 euros for seniors, 7.50 for youths and 5 euros for children.
