General Information

Red Rock Canyon is a Canyon and national conservation area located 15 miles west of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The area consists of large red rock formations and sandstone peaks, some standing at over 3000 ft tall; the highest point is La Madre mountain which is 8,154ft tall. The area is a popular spot for hiking and mountain biking. Its terrain also makes it popular with rock climbers with many walls available to climb. The area is maintained by the Bureau of Land Management.

Getting there

The area is accessible by car, there is a loop road that accesses most of the conservation area with little car parks available on the road for people stopping off to explore the area. Public transport is limited to the area. Many tour companies operating in the Las Vegas area run private buses and tours to the canyon area.

Opening Times and Admission

You have to pay to enter the conservation area, the cost is set depending on how you're entering; if you are in a vehicle it costs 15$ to enter, on a motorcycle 10$ and on a bike or on foot 5$. There is plenty to do at Red Rock, including hiking and biking; trails are already set out and the information is available online or at the visitor centre for you to find which trails are best for you. There are also camping sites at the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area.
