General Information
The Pyramid of the Sun is an ancient pyramid situated in Teotihuacan near Mexico City, Mexico. The name ‘Pyramid of the Sun’ comes from the Aztecs, it is not known what the pyramid was called when it was completed in 200AD. The impressive pyramid structure has a height of 71 metres. a width 230 metres and a length of 220 metres. It is a fine example of ancient history and building techniques but there has always been a lot of mystery about why the pyramid was built.
Getting there
The pyramid is located in Teotihuacan which is to the north-east of Mexico City. You can get the bus to Teotihuacan from Mexico City, head to the North Central Bus Terminal where buses depart from, return tickets cost around 100MXN.
Opening Times and Admission
The ancient complex is open Tuesday to Sunday, 9am-5pm. Admission costs 70MXN.
