Puerta Del Sol is a public square in the Spanish capital city, Madrid. The square is considered a central point of Madrid due to it being the centre of the networks of Spanish roads. The square gets its name from the city gate which was installed on the location in the 15th century when the city had a wall, the gate had a rising sun decorating the entry.

The best transport option for getting to the square is by the subway, getting off at the square's own subway station ‘Sol’.

Puerta Del Sol is a very busy part of the city. It has a clock tower which is used to welcome the new year, as well as a few famous statues, buildings and monuments that attract sightseers.The square is free to access at any hour.
