General Information

The Millenium Stadium, currently known as the ‘Principality Stadium’ due to a sponsorship deal is the national stadium of Wales, situated in its capital Cardiff. The stadium is used by the Welsh rugby team and also hosts other sporting events as well as concerts. The stadium was opened in 1999 having been designed by a team of architects led by Bligh Lobb Sports Architecture. The stadium has three tiers that bring the seating capacity up to 74,500. The stadium is the second biggest in the world to have a fully retractable roof. The stadium is popular with sports fans due to its city centre location, which means it has lots for people to enjoy before and after an event at the stadium.

Getting there

The stadium is situated around a 5-minute walk away from Cardiff Central train station. The stadium is also close to the main bus station. If travelling by car there are car parks close to the stadium at ‘Castle Court’ and ‘Adam Street’.

Opening Times and Admission

The best way to visit the stadium is by attending an event. The Welsh rugby team are the most frequent to host an event at the stadium. If rugby is not for you the stadium hosts other sports throughout the year as well as concerts. Tours of the stadium are also available, you can book these on the stadium's website; the tours cost £12.50 for adults.

Been to watch the rugby here with Ireland, Great city centre location. Good atmosphere with the closed roof too.

Great location

Rated:

Great location at the heart of the city. Short walk away from the train station and a short walk away from decent pubs/bars and restaurants. Great atmosphere with or without the roof at the rugby. Only downside is the inflated prices of the food and drink inside the stadium.
