The Millenium Stadium, currently known as the ‘Principality Stadium’ due to a sponsorship deal is the national stadium of Wales, situated in its capital Cardiff. The stadium is used by the Welsh rugby team and also hosts other sporting events as well as concerts. The stadium was opened in 1999 having been designed by a team of architects led by Bligh Lobb Sports Architecture. The stadium has three tiers that bring the seating capacity up to 74,500. The stadium is the second biggest in the world to have a fully retractable roof. The stadium is popular with sports fans due to its city centre location, which means it has lots for people to enjoy before and after an event at the stadium.
The stadium is situated around a 5-minute walk away from Cardiff Central train station. The stadium is also close to the main bus station. If travelling by car there are car parks close to the stadium at ‘Castle Court’ and ‘Adam Street’.
