Poznan Zoo is a zoo in Poznan, Poland. The zoo opened in 1874, it is one of the oldest zoos in Poland. It was established by a restaurant owner who kept a few animals that had been gifted to him for his birthday by customers. The zoo was expanded by locals who donated animals. The zoo has since become one of Poland's major zoos and now stretches over two sites, a new and an old site, over the two sites the zoo is the home to over 2000 animals of over 350 different species. The New Zoo as it is called is home to most of the animals.
The Old Zoo is situated in the city centre and it is a 10-minute walk away from the city's main transport hub. The New Zoo is on the outskirts of the city, a bus heads for the zoo from the centre of the city frequently during opening hours.
Opening Times and Admission
If visiting the Old Zoo, admission costs 8 euros. If visiting the New Zoo admission costs 15 euros. The zoos operate on the opening schedule of 9am-5pm daily.
