The market was founded in 1974 by craftspeople Sheri Teasdale and Andrea Scharf with all traders paying a small fee to maintain and govern the market. The market, which runs on a Saturday and Sunday has a large array of stalls selling a large array of items but all items sold at the Saturday Market are required to be handmade by the person selling it. The market is a place to experience local trade and culture in Portland.
Getting there
By tram, take the blue and red lines to ‘Skidmore Fountain MAX’ tram station. By bus, take the 12, 19 and 20 which stop by the weekend market.
Opening Times and Admission
The market operates on a Saturday and Sunday only. Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 11am-4.30pm.
