Plaça de Catalunya, known as Catalan Square in English is a square that is considered to be the centre of the city of Barcelona, Spain. The square is covered with fountains and statues and covers over 50,000 square metres. A lot of the city's most important avenues meet at the square, its proximity to other sights makes it a popular place for not only sightseers but locals.
By metro, use either line 1 or 3 and get off at ‘Catalunya’ which is the closest stop to the square. All of the following buses serve the square: 14, 24, 41, 42, 55, 58, 59, 67, 68, 91, H16, V15. The closest train station is ‘Catalunya’.
Opening Times and Admission
The square is a public square so is open at all hours of the day and is accessible to anyone for free. It has bars and restaurants on its perimeter.
