Piazza Maggiore is the city square of Bologna, Italy. The square is thought to have been created between the 12th and 15th centuries in the centre of the city. It is a place where locals have always met. The square is bordered by the old city hall, the former police and justice offices and the Basilica of San Petronio.
Bologna is a fairly small city, most sights are accessible on foot. If walking is not for you, the local bus services stop near the square, take the 14, 19, 25 or 27 to the ‘Rizzoli’ stop.
