General Information
The Old Port in Marseille, France, is a port area that surrounds a yacht marina. The area is a popular spot in the city and has been for many years with it being one of the main access points to the city from foreign shores. The Old Port area is an upmarket spot in the city with many people of worth parking their yachts in the marina and enjoying the local waterfront bars, cafes, restaurants and upmarket shops and hotels. It is a lively area in the city of Marseille.
Getting there
The port area is a 10-15 minute walk away from the central train station of the city. You can get to the port by taking the M1 tram to ‘Vieux-Port’. The 41, 57, 61, 80, 81, 521 and 540 buses all stop at the port.
Opening Times and Admission
The port area is a public space. It is free to visit at any hour of any day.
Probably one of the most popular and lively spots in the city. Some serious wealth on display in terms of yachts but it also seems to attract some poorer opportunists with it being a spot for pickpockets or so we was warned by our hotel receptionist. Plenty of good restaurants and bars on the port.
