The Old City in Baku is the historical core of the city of Baku, Azerbaijan. It is the most ancient part of the city and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old City is known to date back to at least the 12th century, it contains buildings that include Maiden Tower, Sygn Gala Minaret, Palace of the Shirvanshahs, the Multani Caravanserai and the Gasimbey bathhouse. It is the area of Baku to visit to get a sense of the foundations of the city and old city life.
You can get to the Old City by taking the metro to ‘Icharishahar’ which is a stop on the red line. You can also get the bus to the ‘Old City’ stop which is served by the 6 and 18 lines.

The Old City is just an area of Baku, it is a public area which you can access anytime for free. The buildings in the Old City operate on opening schedules.
