One of the largest museums in France is the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon situated in Lyon. The municipal museum was established in 1801. The museum is housed in a Benedictine convent which was renovated and restored without the museum having to close between 1988 and 1998. The museum houses some important collections, its collection ranges from Egyptian to Modern art. It houses many exhibits throughout the year.
If travelling by car, there is a local parking lot at ‘Parking LPA- Terreaux’. If using public transport, take the underground to ‘Hotel de Ville’ on the A and C lines.
Opening Times and Admission
The museum is open six days a week, 10am-6pm Wednesday to Monday except for Fridays when the museum opens half an hour later. Tuesday is the weekly day of closure.
