Munich Residenz is a palace that was formerly the home of royalty in the form of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria, the palace is situated in Munich, Germany. The complex of buildings contains 130 rooms with 10 courtyards, the first buildings at the site were erected in the 14th century; it is the biggest city palace complex in the country. Today, the palace is split into three different parts, many of its buildings serve different purposes.
The palace is situated a few minutes walk away from Marienplatz and also the National Theatre. The closest metro station to the palace is at ‘Odeonsplatz’ which is accessible by lines 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Opening Times and Admission
Guided tours run at the palace most days from 10am-6pm. Tours cost 7 euros for adults and 6 euros for concessions.
