Mercado Central or Mercat Central is a public market in the centre of the city of Valencia, Spain. It is one of the oldest markets still in use in Europe after being built in the years from 1914-1928 and inaugurated in 1928. The market was renovated in 2010. Mercado is a busy place with it being a place bustling with local culture, its aisles are full of local products that attract the attention of both locals and tourists. The building is larger than its front facade portrays, it's only when your inside that you get a feel for how large the market is and how many stalls it contains.
The sight is accessible by the bus system of the city of Valencia. By bus, take the 7, 27 and 73 to the markets bus stop situated just outside. The sight is in the centre of the city so is also accessible on foot from most central locations.
Opening Times and Admission
The market is open from 8am-3pm from Monday to Saturday but closed on Sundays. Entrance to the market is free. Inside the market, many different genres of stalls exist selling many different types of products.
