General Information
Melbourne Zoo is a zoo that is situated in Royal Park in the Australian city of Melbourne. The zoo is the oldest in Australia having been established in 1862, it covers 55 acres of land. The zoo has 320 species from Australia and around the world. It currently has around 5,000 animals in its care, such as elephants, meerkats, penguins and much more. The zoo is set among flower gardens with picnic areas, the animals are kept in bioclimate areas.
Getting there
If travelling by car, the zoo has a local car park available to visitors and spaces cost 2$. By train, take the train to the ‘Royal Park’ station which is a short walk away from the park. By tram, take the 19 and 58 lines that stop at the city.
Opening Times and Admission
The zoo is open daily, 9am-5pm. Adult admission price is set at 37$ with children entering for free on weekends and holidays (otherwise 19$) and concessions entering for 28$.
