Maiden’s Tower (Leander’s Tower) is a tower situated on a very small island just off the coast of Istanbul, Turkey. The island the tower sits on is at the entrance to the Bosphorus Strait. The tower on the small island has existed for many centuries and different versions of the tower have been built on the site over the years serving many different purposes that range from a custom station to a lighthouse. The tower that is currently standing on the island was built centuries ago and has been restored and improved numerous times since. The tower is currently used as a cafe and restaurant.
The tower and its cafe and restaurants are reached only by boat, several boat trips run to the tower each day. Boats run to the tower from the Kabatas neighbourhood.
Opening Times and Admission
The tower is open six days of the week, 9.15am-6.45pm Tuesday to Sunday. Mondays are a weekly day of closure.
