General Information
The Laing Art Gallery situated in Newcastle upon Tyne was opened in 1904 to display a collection of art from local history and up and coming artists. The gallery was designed by architects Cackett and Burns Dick to a Baroque style, it is now a ‘Grade II’ listed building.The collection the museum holds is mainly paintings, watercolours and historic objects, including enamelled glasses from Newcastle’s past as a major glass producer.
Getting there
The gallery is situated in the centre of Newcastle and is accessible by the ‘Monument’ Metro station in which it is a five-minute walk away.
Opening Times and Admission
The gallery is open six days of the week, Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm. The gallery rotates its exhibits and entrance is free to the gallery for all.
