General Information

La Recoleta Cemetery is a cemetery in Argentina, Buenos Aires. It is known due to the famous people that are buried there. The cemetery has existed for centuries, it is a 14-acre plot of land that contains over 4000 above ground vaults of which 94 are National Historic Landmarks due to the people they contain. Notable figures buried at the cemetery include Presidents of Argentina, the founder of the Argentinian Navy, Nobel Prize winners and a granddaughter of Napoleon. The cemetery has been recognised as one of the most beautiful in the world due to some eye-catching elaborate mausoleums.

Getting there

The cemetery is situated in the Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. You can get there by taking the metro to ‘Las Heras’, the H line travels there. The 61, 92A, 92B and 92C buses all travel to the cemetery.

Opening Times and Admission

The cemetery is open from 7am-5.30pm daily. The cemetery is free to enter.
