General Information

Situated just off La Rambla is La Boqueria or to give it its full title Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, which is a public market that has an extensive number of stalls selling different products. The market is popular with sightseers as it gives off an experience of Catalonian culture with food and other products for sale. The market dates officially back to 1826 with its building dating back to 1840. The market has been a thriving area of the city most of the time since its opening, popular with sightseers and locals both young and old.

Getting there

One of the market's entrances is situated on La Rambla. By metro, take line 3 to ‘Liceu’. Bus Lines 14, 59 and 91 also travel close to the market.

Opening Times and Admission

The market is open six days of the week, Monday to Saturday 8am-8.30pm. It is free to enter.

We visited on a saturday afternoon and it was lively, plenty of people sampling Catalonian trade. Fair prices, good produce and friendly traders.
