Kiev Pechersk Lavra is a Christian Orthodox monastery situated in the capital city of Ukraine, Kiev. The monastery was founded on the site in the 11th century. The monastery is an impressive building, it was built to a Ukrainian Baroque architectural style. It is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site along with St. Sophia’s Cathedral. The monastery is back operating in full capacity after the Soviet anti-religious campaign, it is currently the home of over 100 monks.
The monastery is situated in the south of the city centre, close to the bank of the Dnieper River. You can get there by bus, the 24, 38, 470 and 520 buses all stop at the monastery.
Opening Times and Admission
The monastery is open to visitors daily, 9am-7pm April to September and 9am-6pm October to March. Admission is set at 25UAH.
