General Information
One of the tallest buildings in the Shanghai, China, is the Jin Mao Tower which is a skyscraper used for multiple purposes. The building was opened in 1999 and stands at 88 stories tall (425 metres, 1,380ft). It was designed by American architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) to a Neo-Futurism with Chinese influence as it is said to be influenced by a tiered pagoda. The building is used for multiple purposes such as a hotel, offices and a shopping mall. The tower has an observation deck on one of its highest floors, which is a popular attraction with both locals and tourists.
Getting there
The best way to get to the skyscraper is by using public transport. By metro, take line 2 to ‘Lujiazui Station’ which is a 5-minute walk from the tower. By bus, take the 85, 774, 779, 799 or 992 that stop at ‘Lujiazui’ metro station and walk from there.
Opening Times and Admission
Most of the tower is restricted to the public as it is used as office space or hotel rooms but the tower has an observation deck that welcomes in the public. The observation deck is open daily 8.30am-9.30pm, admission to the deck is priced at 120CNY for adults and 60CNY for children.
