General Information
The national theatre of Bulgaria is the Ivan Vazov theatre situated in the Bulgarian capital city, Sofia. The theatre was founded in 1904, it is named after prominent writer Ivan Vazov. The theatre building was not completed till 1906 and was opened in 1907, it is a magnificent Neo-Classical building that was designed by architects Hermann Helmer and Ferdinand Fellner. The theatre has a capacity of around 750. It has been the main place for theatrical performances in the nation since its opening and is now considered a landmark in Bulgaria.
Getting there
You can get to the theatre by taking the metro to ‘Serdika’ which is a short walk away, the M1 and M2 lines stop there.
