General Information

Istanbul Archaeology Museums are a group of Archaeology museums situated in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. The group of museums consist of the main Archaeological Museum and the smaller Museum of Ancient Orient and the Museum of Islamic Art. The main museum was established in 1891 in a purpose-built Neoclassical building designed by Alexander Valluary. The museums hold extensive collections of archaeological items dating back over many centuries.

Getting there

The museums are situated in the Eminonu district of Istanbul. They are all a short walk from each other. The closest tram stop is the ‘Gülhane istasyonu’ stop which is a 10-minute walk away from the museums. The best option for getting to the museums is by taking a taxi.

Opening Times and Admission

The museums are open six days of the week, Tuesday to Sunday 9am-7pm. Monday is a weekly day of closure. Admission to the museums is set a 20TL.
