Henrichenburg Boat Lift is a museum that shows the history of the Henrichenburg Boat Lift, it is situated near Dortmund, Germany. The original boat lift was opened in 1899, it was an important element of the Dortmund-Ems-Kanal and without it, it would have not been possible to navigate to Dortmund Port. The original boat lift could accommodate 450 tonnes. The original boat lift was replaced by a new boat lift 1962, the new boat lift can accommodate 1350 tonnes. The old boat lift was no longer needed and it was turned into a museum, that tells its story.
The museum is situated to the north of Dortmund in Waltrop. You can get the 231E or 280E bus there. If travelling by car, there is local parking available on the streets close to the museum.
Opening Times and Admission
The museum is open six days a week, Tuesday to Sunday 10am-6pm; Monday is a weekly day of closure. Admission is set at 4 euros for adults and 2 euros for children.
