General Information

Gold Reef City is an amusement park in Johannesburg, South Africa. The amusement park was built on a former gold mine that was closed in 1971. The amusement park opened shortly after and it is themed around the gold rush that started in the 1880s. The parks staff, buildings and rides are all themed to that time. The amusement park has roller coasters, water rides, a casino, a museum and much more. It is a place in the city for a fun-filled family day out.

Getting there

The amusement park is situated to the south of the city centre. It is just off the M1 motorway if travelling by car there is onsite parking available to visitors. The C1 bus is the bus that stops closest to the park, it stops a 10-15 minute walk away on ‘Basothong West’.

Opening Times and Admission

Gold Reef City is open five days a week, Wednesday to Sunday 9.30am-5pm. Admission to the park is set at around 215ZAR for adults and 135ZAR for children. Other concession rates and family tickets are available.
