General Information

Girona Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral situated in the city of Girona, Spain. Construction of the cathedral started in the 10th century and wasn’t considered to be complete until the 18th century, it is a mixture of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architectural styles. It is dominant in the city’s skyline and stands at the top of a staircase that was used as a setting for the hit television series Game of Thrones. The cathedral contains the largest Gothic nave in the world. It is one of the most popular places of worship in the city.

Getting there

The cathedral is situated in the city centre of Girona. The L11 bus stops close to the cathedral.

Opening Times and Admission

The cathedral is open to the public daily 10am-6.30pm. Admission is set at 7 euros for adults and 5 euros for students and seniors.

focal point of the city


Focal point of the city, rises above the rest of the town due to it being situated on a hill. Didn't realise that it was a filming point for game of thrones until i stood at the bottom of the stairs to the cathedral.
