Galata Tower is a medieval tower situated in Istanbul, Turkey. The tower gets its name from the district of Istanbul it is situated in ‘Galata’. The Romanesque tower was built in 1346 and has been restored many times since. It is a tower that stands at 66.9 metres. The tower includes an observation deck, a restaurant and a cafe. Its observation deck offers panoramic views of the city of Istanbul and also looks out onto the Bosphorus.
The closest metro station to the tower is ‘Shishane’ on the M2 line which is a five-minute walk away. The 26, 28, 30 and 70 buses all stop a short walk away from the tower.
Opening Times and Admission
The tower is open daily 8.30am-9.30pm. Admission to the observation deck costs 25TL.
