General Information

One of the busiest railway stations in the southern hemisphere is Flinders Street Railway Station in Melbourne, Australia. The main building of the station is a landmark and a cultural icon of the city. It was built in 1909 to a French Renaissance style with a large arched entrance, tower, dome and clocks, the latter are one of the city's most recognisable landmarks. The grand building houses Australia's busiest train station, it is used by around 100,000 people a day and is a key part of the whole of the Australian railway network.

Getting there

The station is the main transport hub of the city, trains arrive there from all over Australia as well as from local suburbs. Many local bus services stop at the station.

Opening Times and Admission

The station is open at all hours of the day, it is a public place so it is free to access the building. The station has fast food restaurants and shops within its main building.

My favourite station

As a rail, air/travel enthusiast, i visit a lot of stations and airports and this one is my favourite one at home. Such character.

City landmark

Rated:

One of the city's most popular places. It was bigger than i thought it would be, really iconic exterior. Had to take a train from there and also got some fast food from one of the many food and drinks places in the station.
