General Information

Dōtonbori is an area in the city of Osaka, Japan. The area is a thriving part of the city, it stretches along the Dōtonbori canal, from the Dōtonboribashi Bridge to the Nipponbashi Bridge. The area was formerly a theatre district but it has changed over the years and has now become an area known for its entertainment and nightlife. The area is popular with tourists, it has an eccentric atmosphere and is known for being lit up at night by neon advertisement billboards, one of the most famous billboards is the Glico Man which shows an athlete on a blue track. The area is filled with restaurants and bars.

Getting there

If you are travelling to the area, the best way to get there is by taking the subway to ‘Namba’ Subway Station which is a short walk away from the area.

Opening Times and Admission

The area is a public area, it is open to the public at all hours. The shop, restaurant and bars all operate on different time schedules but there's always something open regardless of the hour.
