General Information

Detroit Zoo is a zoo located in the American city of Detroit. The zoo opened in 1928 and is run by the Detroit Zoological Society. The zoo covers 125 acres of land. It houses over 2000 animals that represent 245 species. The zoo has different environments that have been created in able to house different types of animals, its animals range from Lions to Warthogs to Penguins. The zoo is a big family attraction in Michigan and attracts over a million visitors a year.  

Getting there

If travelling by car, the zoo has its own car park that is open for visitors to the park. ‘Chrysler’ train station is situated next to the zoo. The 445, 450, 460, 461, 462 and 730 buses all stop at the zoo.

Opening Times and Admission

The zoo is open daily, 10am-5pm. Tickets for the zoo cost 18$ for adults and 15$ for seniors and children. If you book online you will receive a discount on those prices. The zoo has a few restaurants and cafes that are open for visitors to use. It also has a shop that sells mementoes.
