The Cuvilliés Theatre is a former court theatre of the Munich Residenz in Munich, Germany. The original theatre dated back to the 18th century, the theatre was heavily destroyed in the Second World War and was rebuilt in a wing of the Munich Residenz. The theatre has a red and gold theme. The theatre fell out of use for a number of years but it reopened in 2008 and has held regular plays ever since.
The theatre is situated within Munich Residenz a few minutes walk away from Marienplatz and also the National Theatre. The closest metro station to the palace is at ‘Odeonsplatz’ which is accessible by lines 3, 4, 5 and 6.
