General Information
CN Tower is a communications and observation tower situated in the city of Toronto, Canada. The tower was completed in 1976 and is 553 metres in height. It is currently the tallest standing structure in the Western Hemisphere. The tower was designed by a team of architects and is a spire design made mostly out of concrete with a skypod near the top of the tower which contains an observation deck that provides wonderful views of the city and out into the distance. It is a well-known part of the Toronto skyline and is also a popular sight for sightseers visiting the city.
Getting there
The tower is close to one of Toronto’s main transport hubs at ‘Union’ station which is served by many rail lines, the station is a 2-minute walk away from the tower. Many bus lines also run past the tower, get on any of the following buses: 310, 503, 504, 509, 510, 514.
Opening Times and Admission
The tower is open to visitors daily, 9am-10.30pm. There are different packages available depending on what you are using the tower for. If you are visiting the observation deck the fee is 38$. If you are going on the EdgeWalk which is where you walk on the outside of the SkyPod this costs 58$ for adults. Concession prices are available. The tower also has restaurants and shops.
The view is great. Skypod is smaller than you'd expect thought. I have been up there a few times to eat and for the observation with friends and family. Go during the day for a natural perspective, at night the tower is lit up and its lights give a coloured glare over your view.
