City of Caves is a network of caves in Nottingham, England. The caves are all man-made and are all carved out of soft sandstone and date back thousands of years and have had various uses over the years. The caves make up a maze under the city and there is thought to be 500 caves in the network. The caves more well-known uses over the years are as air raid shelters that protected the people of the city during World War Two.
The entrance to the caves is situated at Broadmarsh shopping centre. The shopping centre is a 5-minute walk away from the main train station in the city. If travelling by car, the closest car park is ‘Nottingham Castle Car Park’.
Opening Times and Admission
Tours of the caves run daily, 10.30am-5pm with the last admission set for 4 pm. Admission to the caves costs £7.95 for adults, £6.95 for concessions and free for children under 5.
