General Information

The City God Temple (Chenghuangmiao) of Shanghai is a Taoist folk temple situated in Shanghai, China. It celebrates the elevation of Shanghai to a municipal status and is also used to celebrate the three Chinese figures who are honoured as city gods (Huo Guang, Qin Yubo and Chen Huacheng). The temples date back many centuries but have been renovated over the years and are a fine example of Chinese architecture and culture.

Getting there

You can get to the temple using public transport. By metro, take the 10 line to ‘Yuyuan Garden’ which is a 10-minute walk away from the temple. By bus, take the 932 which stops right outside of the temple.

Opening Times and Admission

The temple is open daily for people to visit, 8am-4.30pm. Admission is set at 10 CNY.
