The City Gallery is an art gallery in Wellington, New Zealand. The gallery was established in 1980, it is located in an Art Deco building that was completed in 1940. The gallery does not have its own permanent collection and has a changing exhibition programme. The gallery is known for taking a specific interest in Pacific and Maori art and running exhibitions on those genres. It is a key part of Wellingtons growth in the art world.
Getting there
The gallery is situated in the city centre. It is a 10-15 minute walk away from ‘Wellington’ train station. The 1, 2, 3, 7 and 14 buses stop a short walk away.
Opening Times and Admission
The gallery is open daily, 10am-5pm. Admission is free.
