The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is a Russian Orthodox church located in the city of St Petersburg, Russia. The church is one of the gems of the city. The church was built in honour of Alexander II, construction started in 1883 ordered by his son Alexander III. Construction was completed in 1907, it is a Neo-Classical/Baroque structure. It is eye-catching due to its colourful domes, its interior is interesting with many meters covered by impressive mosaics. The church is a popular place for worship in the city.
The church is situated on the Griboyedov channel embankment in the city. You can get there by taking the 3 tram to ‘Mikhaylovskiy zamok’. You can also take the metro to the ‘Nevsky Prospect’, which is a short walk away.
Opening Times and Admission
The church is open to visitors six days of the week. Thursday to Tuesday, 10.30am-6pm. Admission is set at 350Rbl.
