General Information

Church of the Holy Sepulchre (Church of the Resurrection) is a church situated in the city of Jerusalem, Israel. The church was first built in the 4th century but its current build is a rebuild that dates back to the 11th century. The church is a popular place with Christians as it is said to contain two of the holiest Christian sites in the world, the site where Jesus of Nazareth was crucified and also his empty tomb. The whole complex is richly decorated and is fitting of its importance.

Getting there

The church is situated in the Old City area of Jerusalem. You can get there by taking the number 1 tram to ‘City Hall’ which is a few minutes walk away from the church. The 17, 30, 48, 66 and 209 buses also stop a short walk away from the church.

Opening Times and Admission

The church is open from 5am-9pm daily in the summer months except for Sundays when it closes earlier at 8 pm. In the winter months, the church is open 4am-7pm. Admission is free.
