Central Park in the Manhattan area of New York City in the United States is an 843-acre urban park. The park was established in 1857 but didn't open until 1858 after two architects were given the task to landscape the park which is a plan they titled ‘Greensward Plan’. The park was further landscaped in the 1860s. The park which is a main part of the city was considered to have declined and in the 1980s a group was set up to look after the park and since the park has been cleaned up and improved, it undergoes daily maintenance from the conservation group set up to look after the park. Central Park is a US Historical Landmark and UNESCO World Heritage site. The park contains a reservoir, loch and pond as well as a castle, pavilion and a zoo. The park has been used for many movies over the years most famously Home Alone New York.
The park is so large that there are plenty of transport stops around its perimeter, the city’s subway and bus systems all serve the park. The N, Q, R subway trains run to ‘57th street’ stop near the park, as do B and C trains to ‘Central Park West’. Buses M10, M1, M2, M3, M4 serve the park.
