General Information

Central Park in the Manhattan area of New York City in the United States is an 843-acre urban park. The park was established in 1857 but didn't open until 1858 after two architects were given the task to landscape the park which is a plan they titled ‘Greensward Plan’. The park was further landscaped in the 1860s. The park which is a main part of the city was considered to have declined and in the 1980s a group was set up to look after the park and since the park has been cleaned up and improved, it undergoes daily maintenance from the conservation group set up to look after the park. Central Park is a US Historical Landmark and UNESCO World Heritage site. The park contains a reservoir, loch and pond as well as a castle, pavilion and a zoo. The park has been used for many movies over the years most famously Home Alone New York.

Early morning jog

Rated:

A great place for an early morning jog before work. Plenty of other people on the various jogging loops too. A great scenic place.

Another popular film location

Rated:

Another popular film location in New York, so we checked it out. Its quite unique, an expansive square area of green that is bordered by concrete buildings. Quite peaceful.

Super park

Rated:

The park is really super, it is so big with so many different zones offering different things. We sat and had some pre prepared food at the park and the only downside was the amount of pigeons but that's to be expected in a public place.

Huge

Rated:

Spent a few hours lost in the park.... Went in for a short walk around and ended up lost in the parks features and beauty. So many recognizable landmarks. Sat an ate lunch by the lake in the park and watched New York life pass by.
