Castillo Gibralfaro is a castle situated in Malaga, Spain. The castle was built in the 10th century, it was built on a hill in the city by Abd-al-Rahman III. In the 14th century, the castle was expanded to the size you see today. The castle is known for Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella seizing control of it after a three-month siege in the 15th century. The castle has deteriorated over the years but still stands in the city and its courtyards and buildings are still there for people to visit. The position of the castle also offers views over Malaga.
The castle is situated on a hill in the city, you can walk there from the Alcazaba but the best option is to take the 35 bus that runs to the castle.
Opening Times and Admission
The castle is open daily, in the summer months the castle is open from 9am-8pm and in the winter months the castle is open from 9am-6pm. Admission is set at 2.20 euros.
