Beijing National Stadium, also known as the “Birds Nest” is the national stadium of China, the stadium is situated in Beijing, China. The stadium was built for the 2008 Olympics, construction started in 2003. The architects behind the designs for the stadium were Jacques Herzog, Pierre de Meuron, Stefan Marbach and Li Xinggang. The stadium was given the nickname the “Birds Nest” due to the stadium's architecture looking like a birds nest from the outside. The stadium has a capacity of 80,000 and is a multipurpose sports complex.
By subway, take the 8 or 15 subway lines to Olympic Green. By bus take the 82, 538, 645 or 419 which all stop near the stadium.
Opening Times and Admission
The best way to visit the stadium is by attending an event. One of Beijing's local football teams plays at the stadium throughout the year. You can also tour the stadium, tickets cost 50CYN for adults.
